Here is a guide I quickly put together last night. I've been messing around with the OSX for only a day now, originally going to buy a MacBook the other day when I found out you can put OSX on an Intel computer. The reasons I put this guide out is because the current guide on the OSX86 Project wiki is specific to a Thinkpad T42 and does not deal with any post installation issues such as graphics and networking. I decided to consolidate all the information for all the major components and put it into a guide that is promising for those of us who own a Thinkpad and for myself in case I ever needed to reinstall OSX. This guide contains: -JaS 10.4.8 Install (See guide for exact version) -QE support for ATI Radeon 7500 -Ethernet support for an Intel PR0/100 VE Chipset -PCMCIA support -Wireless support for a Netgear WG511T PCMCIA card Note: Using the power management extensions provided with the Jas 10.4.8 install image, I can't get the Thinkpad to goto wake from sleep.

I am also trying to intall a dual boot system on my T40. But I am still struggling on the first stage. I posted another thread to ask why I could not boot into OS X after the installation. It is quite strange because it seems nobody had this problem - everybody said: after the installation, you could play a little bit in Mac OS and then you need to fix the dual boot issue.
But I could not even log into OS X. I am putting my question here, since you are using the same guide and same hardware.
You might be able to figure out what's wrong in my installation. My T40's DVD rom cannot read disk now, so I am using an external USB DVD rom to intall OS X.
The disk I am using is the 'Mac OS X 10.4.8 JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2' Here is the result I get when I type list partition in diskpart (after I have installed OS X on Partition 5): Partition ### Type Size Offset - - - - Partition 1 Primary 13 GB 32 KB Partition 2 Extended 72 GB 13 GB Partition 3 Logical 21 GB 13 GB Partition 4 Logical 51 GB 34 GB Partition 5 Unknown 8188 MB 85 GB I have gone through all steps of installation, and the computer is restarted. But I could never get it boot into OS X, if I remove the installation disk. It will boot into Windows XP automatically. In the Acronis OS selector, I could only see Win XP; and if I force the 5th partition to be the active, I will receive an MBR 3 error when it tries to boot up.
The only option I've got now is to use the USB DVD Rom to boot, but that will again get me into the painful long intallation process. Firstly, thanks for all the work you put into converting the T42 guides over for T40s. The prospect of having an actually functional system at the end was the spark I needed to try OS X. Anyway, I am following the guide and everything has gone smoothly to the point where I have installed the 7500 pack from your zip file and am now in Terminal trying to (I guess) edit the info.plist file to reflect the proper pci8086,xxxx, pciclass,xxxxx designation. But I can't dot it. Here's what happens.
I type in the 'sudo nano.' Line as it appears in the guide 2. Terminal asks for password, I enter it 3. 'Nano' interface rolls up into terminal with the directory path (i know that's pc term, dunno unix term) for info.plist, but the entire space between the top bar (black) and the hotkey menu (where i assume i should see the file's content) is BLANK. After navigating (through desktop folders) to the agpgart.kext-view contents-info.plist, I opened it in TextEdit, and theres all the content, including the line I need to edit.
So I make the needed edits in TextEdit and try to save - nope, read-only file. Then I try to copy & paste the content (entire thing) into the blank space in Terminal/Nano - It shows up in the space, so I try to save that - nope, read only. I have tried this several times now, convinced that I skipped something in the guide, but nothing's doing it.
Is there an operator that I should be adding to the sudo nano statement that would open the info.plist as an editable file? Perhaps I have to change the read-only attribute before even opening it for editing? Brand new to Mac and any.nix, so I don't even know how do to that much.

Thanks in advance. I have got a problem: my t40 (1,5 GHZ type 2373) the spare parts are the same, doesn't install OSX. I haven't formated the HDD yet, but i took it out and it wasn't different. I put the DVD (JAS 10.4.8 AMD INtel.) into my toshiba DVD player. It's plugged in over an IDE - USB converter. I put the USB-DVD one the first place of boot order. Then it boots.
I press enter and it needs a time. Then the screen gets blue and it needs again. Then I'm getting an error message and he asks me if i want to see a log. What shall i do now?? I had nearly the same Problem with my AMD system, but i came to choose the parts of instalation and i could install and then he had the error. After alot of tries it worked, but i don't think that it's the same problem.
There i used the AMD only 10.5.2 version please help me! Can I follow this with my T30? What other ISOs work for this? Can't find one in guide.

As you can see, this my first post and I am just getting by feet wet by reviewing all the information I need via search. I came across this excellent guide from minus 273 that you may find useful for your T30. I have yet to try it with my IBM T30, but keeping my fingers crossed that all will go smoothly. I have a Netgear 54G+ WG511T PCMCIA wireless card that I was testing when I was previously monkeying around with different Linux Distros. I am going to try Zaied's instructions to see if I can get it to work. I used this guide, but skipped the Dual Boot stuff and used Kalyway 10.5.1 SSE1 SSE2 iso.
Ethernet works out of the box. Still working on graphics and wireless.
Anyone doing the same? I went through the process for the graphics but got the 'please restart' screen. I put the DVD in and did repair permissions (just in case) and it still didn't work. I'm trying the guide again. The problem I had came around installing the RadeonTool.kext.
Forgot to mention i'm getting this error: The system extensions '/System/Library/Extensions/RadeonTool.kext' was installed improperly and cannot be used.
